You are running such a risk not to spay them. If any wandering male smells them when they are in heat they will move h-ll and high water to get to a female in heat. They can climb or dig under fences people consider to be very secure.

Maybe you could call a local vet and go visit their office and ask to speak with the people there to give you the confidence you need to make the appointments to have it done. I'm sure you will all have more peace once it is done.
