Yes.. but if you train her to alert you when she needs to go, it will give you more of an idea of when she actually needs to go potty and not just you taking her out with the hopes that she will.

I use to free feed my pups... until they all got really over weight. I tried everything to get them on a low cal diet and get their weights back down to a suitable weight for their size... with not much success. Now they are on a scheduled feeding.
