I taught Jackson on my own - I, too, had lots of time when I first got him as I was on winter break from college.
Honestly, I kind of just winged it. I did not know what I was doing at first. But then I discovered YouTube! I really like the following channels - kikopup, zakgeorge21, tab289, pamelamarxsen and a few others. They have wonderful tutorials.
