Barbara Cross, a survivor of the 16th Street Baptist Church and the daughter of the Minister during that time spoke to a group of us gathered at a local church here. I took my daughter; she is 15 years old. We were in tears as she told the story of that dreadful day in 1963. I was 1 year old at that time and do not have any memory of the event. As a white woman that grew up in the south it is so important to me to share the legacy of the Rev.Dr. King with my daughter and to work in any way I can to promote peace and understanding amongst all people. It is so important that we never forget the words of this amazing man.He preached "A Love that Forgives" and said "I want to leave a committed life behind" He certainly did that!!!!! I was humbled in the presence of his words.
