Pee pads are great as backups for working 'southerners' too. My kiddos go outside 99% of the time, and they are on a good schedule for their bodily functions, but with a few pee pads around, if I can't get there for them in time, at least they have an 'okay' place to go. By their behavior you can tell they 'know' if they've had an accident, but they are not to blame if I cannot do for them everything that needs doing in the amount of time it should've been done. The pee pads relieve them of the anxiety of having no other choice but a guilt-ridden accident. When I casually take one up to replace it, I always tell them they were good for using the pee pad, and give petties and lovies. Except for the stress-free attitude, praise, and love, they have not been trained in any other way to use the pee pads.
