I am very surprised about the booking a seat also, I know Delta Airlines will not allow it (I tried with Sophie Kate). Delta charges $100.00 each way to store the dog in the under the seat in front of you (which I believe I already paid for that space).
Delta told me that they could not do it since the FAA requires ID for every passenger and well Sophie Kate has not gotten her Driver License yet.
