It doesn't take the odor out completely for a dog. To us humans (when it's washed properly), we can't detect the smell, but a dog will always smell it, however faint it is.

Additionally, when I purchased these, I put them in the *exact* spot her disposables were...didn't put them in new areas, etc. I think that helped.

We have one by the back door, and Bella uses that one for poopy. We have another by the front door, and she uses that one for pee pee. Don't ask me why...she has several strange little potty habits. lol!
