I can't believe this. We live in a subdivision but we do have a vacant lot across the street. I groom Gizmo at least once a day and usually it is several times a day. Today I found a tick on his face just behind his mouth. I use to live on a farm and I have removed many ticks from pets, DH and DS and I think I can remember having a couple myself. Here is what I did to get him off but if anyone has a better way please let me knw.

First I burned a match and after blowing it out I touched the hot end to the tick. I was told this makes them turn loose. Then after trying several times I got him by using my tweezers. Gizmo Bless his heart did not know what was going and wasn't sure he liked it.

I was able to get the full tick and believe it or not he was still alive. I was told if you just pull them off with the match you can leave the head in.. Did I do the right thing? Is there any easier way?
