It all equals stress and means an adjustment period where you can't really expect a lot from them, and they are all very different in how they handle the adjustment period. You can always convert them to a play pen like the breeder had, but every time you change up your plan you are essentially starting over. My Mylee never did accept a crate. The only dog I've ever had that would not. We eventually resorted to leaving her out with Moka and restricting her to small areas of the house instead and this worked well, but I am a firm believer in crates or playpen training. |
Thank you for your feedback. I know we've only had her for a week and a half, so I just need to give it more time. I'm just a bit surprised by the going in her crate as we never had that problem with Sophie.
But, you make a good point about switching things up might be more confusing to her. I wish I could have them sleep together, but sometimes Sophie likes to cuddle and other times she snaps at Rudy if she gets to close when she's sleeping. Maybe I'll just stick with the crate, because she does like to go in there and the one night she was in there close to Sophie's crate she was quiet (had a pee accident), but was quiet. So, maybe she likes that better than the vast, open pen.
Thanks again!
