Dogs are experts at masking their pain. If you think about it, in the wild years ago an injured dog was the one most vulnerable to attack. All the injured dogs I've ever had have made it difficult to diagnose their injuries.

A vet told me not long ago that my 14-year-old Lab was in pain because he struggled to stand and climb steps.
