I do think that some folks are too quick to re-home. Perhaps those were the ones who did not do their research prior to purchasing. Babies come; people get married - are you making a lifetime committment or not?
Sudden emergencies - that I can understand.
IF I ever had to re-home my dogs for any reason - I would look for a breed specific rescue because it seems like they would have a much better chance there.
