We had the most wonderful dog (a golden lab) that visited everyone in our neighborhood every day for years. Everyone loved this dog and enjoyed his visits.

I moved here then with my little pup (not a Yorkie). And, my little pup chased this larger dog constantly - nipping at it's back legs.

Finally, one day, the larger dog turned around and nipped my pup who definitely had it coming. It was just a nip - like a mother dog would give a pup that was driving her crazy. But, it was a good lesson for my pup. After that, he had a little more respect for our wonderful visitor. He still followed him around (which was okay) but kept a little more distance. And, everything was just fine after that.

I agree - I am especially always afraid when there is more than one strange dog running around my house. We know that two or three dogs will often do things that one dog by itself would never do.....the "herd instinct." How many times have we read where a pack of dogs has attacked a person or a child.

We have stray dogs around here only occasionally. And, they probably just got loose from their yards - this happens! And, they are usually very nice and friendly. But, we have to keep our eyes and ears open and safeguard out little pets -- who are afraid of nothing!
