You said you've read many other posts, so you'll see most people suggest crate training (as would I). Most vets and dog behaviorists suggest it too. Crate training is not good if done incorrectly, but it's generally regarded as the best housetraining method if done correctly (perfectly humane). Done correctly, the dog sees it as his own little den or room where he can relax (and not to potty in). I won't go in to all the details since you can find that anywhere, but I will say you have to gently introduce the crate and increase time gradually. All that said, don't crate train if nobody can come to let him out during the day (the whole they can hold it for the number of hours equal to age in months plus one hour). I would consider hiring a responsible dog sitter/walker to come let him out during the day.

Try not to get too stressed. Many other yorkie owners are going through something like this (including me). The hard work will pay off.
