Layla was trained to go on a pee pad, which we kept in a plastic tray. She had one in the laundry room, and one on the balcony. It was actually against the rules to have pets use the balcony to go to the bathroom, but nobody really noticed Layla because we were on the third floor. I don't know if it would have been an issue anyway, since she went on a pad.
That's the rules here too but the neighbors let the yorkies use a potty patch. I'm thinking they aren't too strict about it. I've even had people tell me that it's such a large complex that they didn't pay the fee and keep a dog anyway. I don't like that because there are breed restrictions and the dog must be current on shots.
