Sometimes they grow out of that, and are only hyper when appropriate, like during play. Some don't My girls both grew out of the puppy hyper-ness, but they do still get excited every now and then. They're both about 5 1/2 years old.

Neither one of mine can stand anything in their hair, but then again I never pushed the issue. I think if you stick with it and make it a good, happy time (treats when putting it in, etc.) then maybe your little one will get used to it and feel that it's a normal part of their day. OH and very importantly, get your puppy used to having it's teeth brushed. The younger you start, the better. I didn't do that and now it's a battle ROYALE to brushe their teeth, so I don't do it as often as I should I do use dental treats and a dental spray, but brushing is the best way to keep their teeth healthy and may prevent you from having to have them anesthetized for a cleaning at the vets.

Good luck and enjoy your new baby Oh, and welcome!!!!
