Yeah, if you just chase him and pull it from his mouth, he'll think it's a game and he'll love it! That's why you have to use the words drop it. Also practice giving him something and say "Drop it". Eventually you can even give him food and say "drop it" and he'll obey, but that takes lots of practice first.
