I use Comfortis, never had had a problem.
I tried Frontline with Sophie Kate and it caused some irritation to her skin and she would act like it was burning her so I had to switch.
Like you I am more worried about Fleas than Ticks, if we are going to be somewhere outside for a long time I have a tick collar I put on her.
