Default Head Trauma.

Is there any rescues or anyone else that has experience with head trauma in a Yorkie? I"m picking up a Yorkie about 5 pounds that they think was clipped by a car. She's currently at the vet hospital, where they stabilized her. She was brought in on Tuesday by a good Samaritan. Iniially when brought in she had bleeding from her nostil and appeared to be paralized and low pressure. They took x rays to make sure nothing was broken, gave her meds for the head injury I would imagin to prevent swelling and fluids through and IV. Three days later she is doing better. She is able to walk but wobbly, but if she does fall she cannot get up again without help. My observations while there was she has some heavy or labored breathing (Not terrible but present) looking under her eye lids, the whites are very blood shot and she seems to me to still have some shock an is tired. If no one steps up to claim her, I will pick her up on Monday to avoid having her sent to the shelter and I will take her to my vet for an evaluation. Just wondering if anyone here has dealt with a rescue that came in like this or their own dog and if so any advice on this being normal or more going on and or advice as to how to help her when she's home. The vet said she will probably need about six weeks of cage rest. Hubby and I are just trying to help a dog out that has no one to speak for it. He's been a good egg through it, driving me almost two hours to see her and bring her stuff and donating money to her vet care there. Any info or advice would be appreciated. I've had rescues that were ill, just never dealt with a head injury. Thanks. Elaine
