With the type of surgery she is having I don't think it is going to take two weeks of confinement for her to recover. Gracie was very quiet the first two days but honestly acted totally normal after that. It would be very much harder on your little one to stay in a crate than to let her out and let her do what she feels up to doing.

Gracie has pet steps to be able to get up and down off the bed but she still jumped up on the couch. There was just no stopping her and she did just fine. Animals just recover so much better and faster than humans.
