it tells the vet information about the original person who installed the chip, etc. It can contain anything you would like it contain really. responsible people will update the info if its changed or if the animal has new family. i believe a vet should contact the person who is on the chip, and verify change of household. after all, a mc is not just a fancy way to keep track of our babies name. If it does not have your contact info on it, its worthless.
