Don't forget the Central Park Zoo (not sure if they're open during winter). If it's not a very cold day a Circle Line Cruise (3 hrs) is great as well but try to carry your own snacks on board if you have backpacks, etc. The Javits Convention Center is always running events so check out their website for events/activities as well.
