Try leaving him in there for a short time period...maybe try it on a day you aren't working. Go run some errands. At least to keep him getting used to it. Also you could put on the tv or radio to give him something to listen to. And put some toys in the pen to keep him occupied. They make interactive toys for dogs that help distract them.
