We had this problem when we switched Allie to adult food. There's 6 months difference between her and Westley, and he was only 4 months when we switched her over. I honestly fed them separately. I always add a little chicken baby food to their morning meal, and started adding a spoonful to his evening meal so he would be more inclined to eat his instead of hers. We don't free feed, so if they haven't eaten it within 30 minutes, it gets picked up. Our vet recommended switching to adult food at 9 months, we waited til she was 10 since we have Noah too and he was only 7 months at the time. (he's now 9 months and I'm okay with him having adult, but still not wanting Westley to have it)
