I have an iPad2 and I love it so much, I want to marry it. I love to read, and I just cannot get over the fabulousness of finding out about a book, and having it available in less than a minute. I love all the highlighting and notes too. Of course, that's not a particularly rare feature, but have I mentioned how much I LOOOOOOOVE it?
It's also really handy for lightweight work. I no longer have to drag my laptop everywhere. I have terrible handwriting, and being able to type notes anywhere I go makes a big difference.
Personally, I would not worry about Flash. I believe that technology is on its last legs simply because iDevices have such ridiculous market share.
So to the iPad, YES! For me, the big questions were provider, storage and data. I got Verizon with the maximum storage and maximum data plan, and it's painfully obvious to me that I could have gotten the minimum storage with the minimum plan (at least I can switch the plan).
So I would recommend Verizon; realistically consider your storage needs and then go up one size just to be careful; and pick the minimum data plan unless you are really sure you use more than that. You can always move your plan up if you find that you are streaming a lot of data.
