It depends on the use. Usually the rule is be consistent if you typically use US english then stay with that, if you use Canadian/British than stick with that.

Well that seams logical. That rule is true of table etiquette also, if you used the European vs American methods of using knife and fork is fine as long as you are consistence and proper.
Sorry.. I guess it is funny to compare grammar to etiquette !
