I think you want to introduce it slowly if he is fighting it. Let him sniff and play with it a little. Slowly show him it is not going to hurt him. I found the more I took my girl outside with it on the more she liked it because she loves going out. Now when she sees me take it off the rack it hangs on she gets all excited because she knows she is going out!
