Wow glad Bogey was found. You sound exactly like my mom when it comes to us kids (well we're not really kids anymore, I'm the youngest at 24) but that is usually something that would happen in my house. No one would answer the phone nor the door.
When I lived in my old house, we had a backyard gate that had to be closed so our miniature schnauzer, Nugget, wouldn't get out. One day the lawn guys came and forgot to close the gate and since we were used to them always closing it, we let Nugget out not thinking. It took about a half hour (she liked to take her time and play in the grass) when we realized she didn't come to the door to get back in. My parents were frantic outside looking all over the area for her. An hour later my dad was standing outside, in front of the house on the sidewalk, and here turns the corner was Nugget. She immedietly saw my dad and flew right into his arms. The whole family was thrilled. She always had a collar on with her tags but I guess people in the neighborhood didn't want to bother in case something was wrong with her and she really didn't like strangers anyways. We figured she must have been walking around the block cause she was used to walking around the block by one of us. I was only 7-8 yrs old at the time so I was laying in bed crying until the good news came.
