I have had issues with a 4.5 year old female spayed yorkie (Charlie). She had bladder stone surgery and is now on her 3rd food (Royal Canin SO) and 1/4 tablet craninidine supplement daily. Her only treats are washed carrots. She takes 1/4 tab of benadryl in the AM and PM.
We have been giving her only distilled water and cleaning her with pamper wipes then patting dry every times she goes outside. We also have kept her hair short to keep her bottom and legs dry. This has minimized her UTI flare ups but has not prevented them altogether. I have no doubt that her issues stem from a metabolic dysfunction that creates a favorable environment for UTI/stone development. However, I will continue to look for ways to make Charlie as comfortable and healthy as possible.
I would definitely recommend taking your yorkie in for appt. |
