Leptospirosis in Dogs
The lepto vaccine is controversial because pups can have a severe reaction and possibly die, as with all vaccines. Also, there are a growing number of strains of lepto, and the current vaccines do not protect against all of them. There are also differences of opinion on how often the vaccine must be given to be effective: minimum is annually, and some say every 6 months.
Discuss it with your vet. Depending on where you live and your dog's lifestyle, your vet will advise you one way or the other.
