I absolutely agree with you. My dh had a Siamese cat years ago that he swears was the ultimate in-home companion. To that I say "nonsense that's enough of that talk", I personally have yet to meet a cat that just wants to please me and be my buddy, and not just that, has a charming, endearing quality that even strangers are drawn to.
I speak only for myself and my own dog experience. There are true cat lovers out there, just chalk this statement up as complete and total ignorance and disregard for other species
