My yorkie Bubba may still be a little young for this game, but my dh and I refer to it as reverse fetch with our lab. He brings the toy, touches us as though to lure us, kind of saying "hey come and get this, this is what I want to do".
Sonic sounds very smart, have you tried engaging him once he's reached his destination with the toy? I'm interested in knowing if he would play keep away once you go to him and the toy?
