My little one is named Joey too! I named him that because it reminds me of a little spunky boy who thinks he's tough, and my Joey fits that image perfectly! I think the CC wooden pin brush is great. Perfect for tangles. The pins are softer than steal, so it can also be used on the mustache area. Here's a picture: Chris Christensen Wood Pin Brushes 20mm - Cherrybrook. They have a large one too, but I prefer the smaller one. After I get the tangles out, I use a comb.
