Yeah when I think about high school I remember writing little essays and reading Shakespeare but never being given a formal textbook on grammar. I grew up in a rural community and my speaking usually contains a lot of slangs. If I'm in a business meeting I have to think clearly before speaking so that I sound educated. I think this passed down to my writing as well. I don't understand how a person can be an english teacher in high school if you can't speak clear english yourself.
