My opinion is that each pup is sooooo different. Both of my girls ears were up from the time I got them. Sophie was 12 weeks and Bella was older. Maybe some "lineage" is involved as all the ones that I am aware of from our breeder were always erect ears.
I will say that Yorkies have pretty big ears for little dogs!! Better to hear things to bark at.
