They said at the end of the video I saw on Yahoo today that she breeds Gsd's & that the death of some of them may have contributed to the break in. Not sure how it could.
As for the Beware of Dog signs, etc. I remember in law class in H.S. my teacher (who was also a law professor @ WMU) proudly told us that if someone broke into his house he'd gladly bust out his shot gun & that he had the right to do so, but that could just be here in MI. I'm sure it'd be no different than a dog bite.
He also told us a sad story about some teens that broke into a property to swim in a family's underground pool at night. The pool was empty & unfortunately they didn't know until someone dived into it.
He died & his parents sued the owners for not having signs around the perimeter announcing an empty pool.
