Another side to this discussion is the cost. For someone to have their dog as a service dog they would have to spend a small fortune (I know because I had to) buying a trained service dog, or visiting a Psychiatric doctor for the needed letter of dependency, Lots of people who need dogs with them just don't have the money because their disability has prevented them from have a lucrative full time job.
I know there has to be some way for the airlines to tell the difference between a service dog and a pet, so as not to disrupt a flight for everyone and I don't have the solution, I just like to discuss these issues from both sides. |
