I think my only option will be to get a small rug cleaning machine... Good thing is it is a light shag.. so maybe stains will be hidden. So far today he has been good.. I broke some treats up into small pieces and when he uses the pad he gets a piece. So far it seems to be working... I just thank god he is so tiny... this way everything he does is tiny to.. hehe

I can't not have rug here. I have granite floors and it gets way to cold in the winter... I'll figure it out and hope he does too.. but thanks for the suggestions!
