Thank you for correcting me. That makes sense if the mats are right on top of the skin. I was repeating something I read here from an exhibitor, but maybe she never had a mat mat right at the skin level.

I have had to cut very little on my guys, only a few strands between the back legs and under the front arms. When I use the scissors, I don't get close to the skin. I cut further down the hair shafts and then work the remaining tangle out with my fingers.

I will bookmark your post for future reference.
