I have a few questions about pee pad training. It sounds like a lot of you use an ex-pen or set up where you can have a pee pad in with your pup when they are confined and not allowed to roam the house. When do they start going to the pee pad on their own and using it when not in their ex-pen?

Emma will use the pad whenever I take her to it and she has to go and will also use it when she is confined and there is a pee pad close by. When playing with us or hanging out not confined she will still just pee or poo most of the time where ever she is. When we catch her in the act we tell her no and take her to the pad. We do take her outside to potty too during the day but with Wisconsin winters, she will most likely be using the pad more until spring. She is 3 1/2 months old.
