I think that the reason that so many come to work when they're sick is due to the economy. They're petrified that they will somehow lose their job if they call in sick. Sadly, many employers are taking full advantage of the competitive job market and using any excuse to get rid of a long time (read: highly paid) employee so that they can hire a newbie for minimum wage and no benefits. It's just horrible out there and I feel for anyone that is trying to find a decent paying job. Down here in Florida, it's impossible to find anything that pays more than $8/hour and forget about health insurance or anything else There is always the next person in line that's willing to do the job for less.

Amen to that. That's another reason that I don't take the day off. My husband or I do not have health insruance. So basically we'd just stay at home sick and not make any money. Where if I'm at work, at least I can be making money while I'm trying to feel better.
It's a sick, sad world we live in. Scary too, I haven't had health insurance for 3 years. I got the flu a week before my wedding last year and it cost me $90 to walk into the doctor's office and have them tell me I have the flu, go home take Tylenol for my 105 fever and sleep...
