She is not in a cast, that's what makes this even more stressful! A cast would make the joint grow back stiff into whatever angle it had been set into. A blood clot will form around the joint and it should heal nicely. She will probably always have some stiffness but at least it her leg will have an almost normal range of motion once healed.
Thank you all for the sweet messages and prayers. This has been a very stressful little New Year's, but we are very thankful that it wasn't much worse.
