Bad trip to the ER, help!!! So yesterday morning we woke up to find Mack on an area rug next to a pile of vomit. He was shaking and smelled like that yeasty smell he gets in his ears with an ear infection. He was also bobbing his head. We quickly got in the car and rushed him to the ER. They kept him in an "observation area" for close to two hours until I demanded they let me wait with him for the vet in a room. He was traumatized enough because he was sick and then they took him away from me.
Once we got him back he seamed lethargic but ok. He was still bobbing his head. The vet gave him some subcutaneous fluids and Pepcid. Se said it was a gastroenteritis. We got home and he slept the rest of the day. He got up around 7pm and ate a little. He started to look a little better.
He slept through the night in my bed and woke up this morning acting fine. He even went outside to chase some ducks which is one of his favorite past times. Then about 1pm he started to bob his head again, shake, omit this awful odor and now has been sleeping all afternoon.
I called my own vet and they can't get him in until tomorrow. I am freaking out. Could it be liver shunts? Diabetes? An allergic reaction to the glucosimine we put in his homemade dog food (which is the only change recently)? Hsanyone ever had any experience with anything like this?
