Hi,
Well, I decided to help a dog in need (she's not spayed and they were going by highest offer). This isn't the Yorkshire but ..well, I'm not sure what sort of dog she is. She has the body of a Dachshund but she's cream colored with shaggy fur like a shih tzu.
We plan on getting her spayed and all her shots tomorrow morning and when she has recuperated; find her a home. She's housebroken, nails are trimmed nicely and her ears are clean. There's no signals of prior abuse or anything else so I wouldn't exactly call this a rescue, but it DOES keep her out of our local kill shelter, and keeps her from getting pregnant.
..but now that she's at our house I'm not so sure I have the strength to find her a home.
We've never gotten a dog for the purpose of 'rehoming' it before, and Brussels is already attached at the hip (he's neutered, don't worry). Actually, right now they're sleeping 'on top' of each other...it's the sweetest thing. She's acting like Bella's mommy as well.
HOW do you all get a dog for the purpose of spaying or neutering it, UTD on shots, vet checked, blood tests, enzymes, etc....let it stay in your home during all this, and
not fall in love with them and want to keep them??
I don't know what I have gotten myself into...or my husband for that matter. We're scheduled to go to the KCMO animal shelter on Wednesday and rescue one of the small breeds that are out of time as well. I was really excited about keeping a dog from euthanization, but now I'm wondering if I'm too emotional for this sort of life path.
I mean..how do you control yourself from not keeping them? We can't keep them, our city limit is 4 total cats/dogs...we have 3 total (2 dogs and 1 kitty).
This dog...acts like she's been ours since birth. How do you do it, and
have I bitten off more than I can chew???
I need advice.
