Booking an extra seat, also allows you an extra carry-on too
I did the same thing with my pup ,with Jet Blue, when flying to a family wedding. I had a time crunch and didn't want to wait for checked luggage. It worked perfectly and for me was on $20 than the pet price. Definately worth it.
