If I brush her teeth with the gel, she spits up. I mostly quit using it. I think I'll try rubbing it on her teeth though and using the spray as well. But we'll continue brushing with something else. I do like the spray, but it isn't enough to fight tartar. She has never had a breath problem. At least, since she was teething.
