I know a lot of people transport small dogs to other states as there is a shortage in some places, its a shame they cant all be moved to areas where they are wanted....

USA and work with a shelter and rescue as a volenteer. In the Humane Society Shelter in this area we rarely have small dogs more than a few days before they are adopted. True most of the small dogs are mixed breeds, but people really don't seem to care they just want a nice pet to share their life with. The Rescue gets more small dogs. Some are older, or have a health issue the owner could not afford to treat. Some dogs come to us because the owner died, went to a nursing home, has health problems or must move to a place that they can not have a dog or dogs. Most dogs at the rescue are not surrendered because of bad behavior. We have a waiting list and there is about four times more requests for small dogs than we recieve.
To answer your question YES I would and have adopted a rescue Yorkie. |
