My ex & I had a pup when we broke up, I wanted the pup but he loved the pup too. It was our first Yorkie, he was 5 months old. We named him Stuart and we both loved him to pieces. But when we split, it was not even a question, I got the pup. I can't imagine having to fight over a dog during a breakup esp to take it to court, but I think I would have fought tooth & nail to keep Stuart with me if it had to come to that.
