Apparently he wasn't cold.
If he's used to wearing clothes, then it shouldn't be a problem. However, lots of little dogs just want to be comfortable and sleep without clothes and cover up whenever they do get cold. I wouldn't make him wear them if he doesn't want to. Mine doesn't like to wear anything at night, either, but she wears clothes everyday.
