I had a little toy poodle when I had my first baby - my little dog used to lay under his crib when he napped - when he crawled, she would walk right next to him - they became best friends. The dog will understand that you are busy with the baby - but it doesn't mean you don't have enough love for both. What will happen when you have a second child and your first one doesn't get as much time and attention? My first son understood when we had our 2nd that his time had to be shared - no different with a dog. Reminds me of all the dogs being 'turned in' because of the 'economy' it is so upsetting - I would sell everything I had before I would part with one of my dogs. It's just another excuse to get rid of a pet you don't really want. |
