I just went through this myself as we went to Mexico from the 18th - 23rd. I didn't feel comfortable kenneling him and thought he would be more comfortable being in his own environment. One of my son's friends stayed at our home and everything went great. I left detailed info with a schedule to be followed along with emergency phone numbers. I also called our vet to let them know the names of people who were allowed to take him in if necessary (just in case).
